Fairy House Building

We had so much fun building fairy houses last Wednesday. Big, big thanks to the volunteers who were able to come help with the gluing. I was so impressed with how well the kids worked together and how creative they were in their design. Here are some photos of the first graders hard at work and their finished products. They received lots of compliments from Mrs. Simons, other teachers and visitors to the Fairy House Tour.

What I Love Most About My Classroom is Who I Share it With

I was so excited to finally fill our classroom with my fifteen new learners! Our classroom was buzzing with energy and lots of smiles this week as we got to know one another. I can tell that we are going to have a wonderful year together!

Our first week was busy as we learned classroom routines and procedures. We wrote our Hopes and Dreams for the school year by thinking about our goals and what we hope to become better at in first grade. We also spent some time creating our classroom rules together and talking about what our classroom needs to look and sound like in order to achieve all that we want to this year. I'm very proud of how hard everyone worked this week, despite the heat. I'm certainly looking forward to the cooler days of fall.

Here are a few pictures from our first days together.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Meet Mr. Phinney

Hello everyone! My name is Mr. Phinney (or Mr. P, if you'd like) and I am very excited to be spending time in Mrs. Serrechia's first grade classroom this fall. I am originally from Exeter and still live nearby. In my spare time, you can usually find me doing something fun outside, no matter the season – swimming, hiking or skiing... you name it! I also enjoy reading, playing the piano and spending time with friends and family.

We are delighted to have Mr. Phinney join us for his internship. We look forward to learning with him. Today this small group of children enjoyed a story with Mr. P before heading off to music.
